Biography

Simon Conning

Simon Conning began his studies with Marjorie Kelly in Macclesfield, then continued at the Royal Northern College of Music’s Junior Department in Manchester with Marjorie Clementi. He went on to study at the Royal College of Music in London with Yu Chun Yee. Since returning to the concert platform, Simon has appeared as soloist in concertos and recitals in North West and South East England. He is working on a number of recording projects with the Prima Facie Records label.

Simon's recent solo performances have included works by Mozart, Ravel, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, Debussy, Gottschalk and Peter Longworth, culminating in a talk/performance featuring Brahms' Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, Op.24. His most recent soloist with orchestra appearances include Greig's Piano Concerto and Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto no.1.
